The prostate gland is a very important organ present in a human male and it plays a decisive role in the reproductive mechanism. The prostate gland plays a vital role in the forceful expulsion of semen during ejaculation. Male hormones that determine the sexual identity of a male are highly essential for the proper and effective functioning of the prostate gland. One such major male hormone is testosterone. Testosterone is produced in the testicles of a male. Some other male hormones are produced in the adrenal gland. From what has been stated above it is evident that the prostate gland plays a key role in the reproductive mechanism of a male and the sense of well being that is critical for a man to lead a normal life. It is therefore advisable that every man should include a regular check up of his prostate gland in his annual medical examination by his personal doctor. In this way one can keep a close watch over the functioning of the prostate gland and can take appropriate remedial measures in case of any disorders discovered. Among various types of cancer found in men, studies suggest that prostate cancer is the most common. It is therefore very crucial for the well being of an individual to have regular check ups regarding the general well being of his prostate gland.
