Tests to determine prostate gland health problems symptoms A number of clinical tests are available today to verify prostate gland health. Often men above the age of fifty are advised by their physicians to undergo medical check ups at regular intervals to rule out the possibility of any prostate gland health problem. Apart from physical examination, laboratory analysis of blood, urine and stool samples of a patient are also conducted to determine the prostate gland health condition. The physical examination conducted for verifying prostate gland health is the rectal examination. This test is conducted by a qualified physician by physically verifying the condition of the gland using his index finger inserted through the rectum. This step is ideal for detecting prostate cancer at the threshold. Another common test often suggested to men over fifty to determine their prostate gland health is known as prostate-specific antigen test or PSA. Physicians suggest patients to undergo this test at least once in a year wherein the level of the prostate specific antigen is monitored and measured. This test is ideal for an early detection of prostate cancer. Prostate cancer can be successfully treated if detected in the beginning. Tests relating to prostate gland health also include ultra sound, biopsy and cystoscopy. Normally a series of tests referred to above are essential for conclusively determining prostate gland health. These tests are therefore to be undertaken under proper medical supervision.
